Sri Lanka Tamil party warns novice Tamil councilors of Eastern PC of attempts to fish them

Sri Lanka's major Tamil party Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leader R. Sampanthan summoned the newly elected TNA councilors to his house Wednesday and warned them of the attempts to win their support to the government. Sampanthan said that
the government is attempting to fish the newly elected councilors through benefits and privileges and urged the councilors not to be victims of this and to adhere to the mandate they received. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) supreme council held hours-long discussion today regarding the party moves after the Eastern Provincial Council election. Reportedly, SLMC groups have mooted three ideas, to support the government demanding provincial and national level portfolios, to support the government remaining outside and to support the TNA bargaining for the Chief Minister position. -->
