Sri Lanka Muslim party will take strict action if government fails to honor agreement

Governing party ally, the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) says the party would take action if the government fails to honor the agreements reached with it. SLMC General Secretary M.T. Hassan Ali said
the party's highest decision making body, the High Command, would be compelled to take action against the governing party if it does not carry out the recommendations made by the party. He has observed that the SLMC had joined the government after consulting all stakeholders and would also consult them before deciding on the action to be taken if the government fails to honor its agreements. He has added that the SLMC had always followed the policies of the late founding leader, M.H.M. Ashraff. Hassan Ali has made these statements since the party is currently facing an internal crisis following its decision to join the governing party to form the Eastern Provincial Council. Members of the High Command have questioned the party leadership over the decision and the party's failure to have achieved the best for the Muslim community in the East. -->
