Sri Lanka's former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka says the people should work towards establishing a new political culture in the country as they need to save the country from corrupt politicians.
Speaking during a public rally in his hometown Ambalangoda,
Fonseka has noted that political opponents have tried their best to destroy him mentally and physically by resorting to numerous tactics, but the people knew the truth. According to Fonseka, he never wanted to build harbours, international air ports, luxury hotels and international playgrounds in his hometown Ambalangoda, but to provide opportunities for the ordinary people. Present government was engaged in cheating the people by giving false promises which they could never realize, he has charged. He has said that people needed to be given the opportunity to lead peaceful lives safeguarded against the corrupt politicians who abuse their powers.
