Sri Lanka ruling party parliamentarian critically injured in a gun battle on the election day last year is to undergo more surgeries at a hospital in Singapore, his Lawyers informed the Court today at his hearing.
Parliamentarian Duminda Silva, who is accused of the murder of Presidential Advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra during the shootout on October 08, 2011, suffered severe head injuries during the incident.
The lawyers appearing for the ruling party MP today told the court that Silva would not be able to visit Sri Lanka at least for another 2 months due to more surgery scheduled in Singapore. Presidential Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya said Hirunika Premachandra, daughter of the slain UPFA member was continuing to make false media statements and there is no truth to the media reports that Silva has arrived in the country. Colombo Additional Magistrate Prasanna De Alwis meanwhile, dismissed the contempt of court charges against Hirunika Premachandra filed by Silva's lawyesrs saying that the Magistrate's Court did not have jurisdiction to hear a contempt of court offence that has been committed outside court.
