Junior Sri Lankan minister criticizes former Eastern Province Chief Minister

A junior minister in the Sri Lankan government has criticized the former Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan who is a governing party candidate at the forthcoming Eastern elections. Deputy Resettlement Minister, Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman has called Chandrakanthan an 'illiterate'. Muralitharan has reportedly said that Chandrakanthan had won the 2008 Eastern provincial Council elections since he did not contest.
The local media has reported that Muralitharan has made these comments while addressing an election rally in Valachennai in support of his sister who is contesting under the governing party. Muralitharan has said that Chandrakanthan was illiterate and that his tenure as chief minister was over. He has added that his sister Rudramalar Ganabaskaran must win the election to ensure that Chandrakanthan does not come back to power.
