The scheduled visit of Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar to Sri Lanka has been postponed indefinitely, the Ministry of External Affairs has said.
Director General of the Public Communications Unit Sarath Dissanayake has told media that the Pakistani government had notified the Ministry of the postponement. The Pakistani government is to re-schedule the visit but the exact dates are yet to be confirmed. The High Commission of Pakistan in Colombo announced Thursday that Khar will be visiting Sri Lanka from 1st to 3rd August, 2012, at the invitation of her Sri Lankan counterpart, External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris. During the visit that was aimed at enhancing bilateral ties between the two countries, Khar was scheduled to call on the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and meet several top leaders of Sri Lanka.
