Sri Lankan minister accuses US of aligning with separatist forces to take over the country

A Sri Lankan government minister has accused the United States of aligning with separatist forces in order to de-stabilize and take over the country. National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader and Housing and Construction Minister Wimal Weerawansa speaking during an event in Marawila has said
the US was focused on Sri Lanka due to the country's geographical location in the Indian Ocean region. He has said the US was therefore interested in Sri Lanka and wants to take charge by de-stabilizing the country. He has noted that the hidden agenda of the US was evident in its continuous insistence that the military should be removed from the Northern Province. According to Weerawansa, the US, UK and the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) want the separatist movement to return creating unstable conditions in the country for Western forces to infiltrate the Indian Ocean region.
