Sri Lanka signs agreement to exchange prisoners with other countries

The Sri Lankan government has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with several countries to exchange prisoners and the government is planning to exchange a group of prisoners with Pakistan under the MoU. Minister of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms, Chandrasiri Gajadeera says that the agreement has also signed agreements with India, Maldives and the United Kingdom.
The exchange of prisoners with Pakistan will take place as the first phase of the agreement. Accordingly, 22 Pakistani prisoners who are in Sri Lanka's prisons will be repatriated step by step as two prisoners at a time so that they can be sent through a flight in line with international aviation regulations.
