Leaders of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) are to hold a special discussion today regarding the elections of the North Central, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern Provincial Councils.
The discussions are to be held under the patronage of the party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe. The chairmen of the three committees appointed to look into the organizing of the election campaigns of these provinces will submit their reports at the discussion, UNP sources say. The leaders toured these provinces last week. The UNP committee for the North Central Provincial Council election is headed by MP Joseph Michael Perera, the committee for Sabaragamuwa is headed by MP Lakshman Kiriella and MP Ravi Karunanayaka heads the committee for Eastern Provincial Council.
