Minister challenges Sri Lanka Marxist party to prove accusations against government over attack on rally

Sri Lanka cabinet spokesman, Minister of Media and Information Keheliya Rambukwella vehemently rejected charges leveled against the government over the killing of two persons at a public rally of the Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) at Katuwana in Hambantota district on Friday.
He further said that the JVP should prove the charges against the government and all the details of the suspects should be submitted to the police to make the investigation easy. JVP has complained that one Julampitiye Amare conducted the attack and the attackers who came on motorbikes used T-56 rifles to shoot the crowd. The attackers have also damaged several vehicles and motorbikes belonged to the attendees. Government sources say that the police have focused on the factional clashes of the JVP with the splinter group Frontline Socialist Party in relation to the attack.
