UNHRC resolution on Sri Lanka is against the government -UNP

Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) says the resolution adopted by the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on Sri Lanka in Geneva is against the government and not the country.
UNP Kandy District parliamentarian and the party's Foreign Affairs spokesman Lakshman Kiriella has called the government for a debate on the UNHRC resolution and challenged Ministers Prof. G.L. Peiris and Mahinda Samarasinghe. He has explained that the resolution had been brought against the government's failure to handle key issues and affairs related to the country. According to Kiriella, the two ministers who led the Sri Lankan delegation to Geneva to lobby the international community on behalf of Sri Lanka have to accept the challenge for the debate. Kiriella has earlier said that the resolution is not a threat to Sri Lanka and it is for the benefit of all Sri Lankans.
