Sri Lanka ruling alliance sources say that a motion is to be moved in the parliament on next Friday seeking three months leave for the lawmaker injured in a shootout last year.
United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Duminda Silva is presently under three months leave following injuries sustained during a shootout that took place on October 08, 2011 as the local government elections were underway. President Mahinda Rajapaksa's adviser on trade union affairs Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and several others were killed in the clash. Duminda Silva is an accused of the murder and a court in Sri Lanka has issued a warrant against him. H.N. Weliwitigoda, a secretary of the MP Duminda Silva has sent a letter to the Speaker requesting leave for the MP who is said to be undergoing treatment in an overseas hospital for his injuries.
