The General Secretary of ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), Minister of Health Maithreepala Sirisena has requested Inspector General of Police N.K. Ilangakoon to submit a list of corrupt party members.
The Minister has requested a list of SLFP organizers and members of Provincial and Local Councils who have police complaints on bribery, murder, drug smuggling, ransom and corruption against them. The SLFP secretary has requested the report with immediate effect. The move has been prompted by the involvement of several local government politicians of the ruling party in notorious crimes recently. The Minister has also directed the party district organizers to submit reports regarding the corrupt politicians. SLFP sources said that the reports would be submitted to the party central committee for disciplinary action.
