Sri Lanka Court orders CID to inform whereabouts of ruling party MP accused in murder case

A Sri Lankan court has today asked the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to submit a comprehensive report with the medical condition and the whereabouts of governing party parliamentarian Duminda Silva to court.
Silva has been named as a suspect in the murder of Presidential Advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and four others last October. Colombo Additional Magistrate Prasanna Alwis has issued the directive after asking the CID why Silva has not yet been arrested even after court has issued a warrant for his arrest. The CID was also asked to report on any difficulties faced in arresting Silva. Premachandra's Counsel Tirantha Walaliyadda has requested the magistrate to issue a 'Red Warrant' and seek Interpol assistance to arrest Silva. The next hearing of the case was fixed for April 4th.
