Sri Lankan government to move special motion to thank the President in parliament on Wednesday

The Sri Lankan government is to move an adjournment motion in parliament this week thanking President Mahinda Rajapaksa for withdrawing emergency regulations and strengthening democracy in the country.
The special motion is to be moved in the House on Wednesday (7).

Chief Government Whip and Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has said the adjournment motion would be presented instead of the debate on emergency regulations as scheduled earlier.

He has said the extra day available after the withdrawal of emergency regulations would be used for other business of the House.

The President withdrew the emergency regulations on August 25.
