Economic Development Minister of Sri Lanka Basil Rajapaksa says the government initiated development programmes were progressing despite some shortcomings in certain areas.
Rajapaksa has observed that there is an attempt to disrupt the government's development plans.
Addressing the District Development Committee in Anuradhapura, Rajapaksa has said there were some shortcomings with the development programmes in the difficult areas.
He has added that people living amidst sever hardships had a problem in working with the government due to the difficulty in getting the state authorities to address their needs.
Rajapaksa has observed that public representatives and government officers needed to work together in order to address the needs of the people living in areas amidst hardships.
