Sri Lanka's First Lady arrives in Bangladesh to attend autism conference

Sri Lanka's First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa arrived in the Bangladesh capital of Dhaka Sunday on a three-day official visit to participate in the five-day conference on 'Autism Spectrum Disorders and Developmental Disabilities in Bangladesh and South Asia' beginning tomorrow.


Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dipu Moni and Saima Wazed Hossain, daughter of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, warmly welcomed the Sri Lanka's First Lady at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.


Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapaksa is scheduled to speak at the opening ceremony of the first-ever regional conference on autism.
According to the organizers the conference will draw together regional politicians, international organizations and academics to discuss the current state of autism in the region.
