Sri Lankan President concerned over rising food prices

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has called on the sub-committee on food security and cost of living to take necessary steps to arrest the increasing prices of essential food items.

The President has asked members of the committee to discuss with the importers measures to bring down the increasing infant milk food prices.

He had also directed to make arrangements to purchase the paddy that would flow into the market from next month following the harvest.

Rajapaksa has said that immediate steps needed to be taken to ensure the decline of prices of essential food items.
