Sri Lankan government to submit a report to the House on investigation of KP

Sri Lankan government is preparing a report on the information revealed during the investigation of former LTTE senior leader and arms procurer Kumaran Pathmanathan alias KP, according to statement made by a government minister Friday.
In responding to a query from the main opposition United National Party parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayaka, Minister Dinesh Gunawardena told parliament today that KP is still detained under government custody.

Sri Lankan authorities arrested KP in Malaysia and brought back to Sri Lanka in august 2009.

When questioned by the UNP legislator as to why the government has not arrested KP yet based on his revelations, Minister Gunawardena has said that the detained LTTE leader is being questioned and a report on the information he has provided will be presented in the parliament eventually.

While remaining under government's detention, KP has expressed desire to cooperate with the government in rehabilitation and reconciliation process and work with the Tamil diaspora to achieve that goal.

Sri Lankan government has said earlier that Pathmanathan may be used as a "crown witness" which does not require him to be presented in court.
