Sri Lanka President to visit Jaffna and Kilinochchi in Northern Province today

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa will visit the Jaffna peninsula and the former rebel stronghold Kilinochchi in the Northern Province today to boost the ruling party campaign for local government elections and take part in many public events.


The President will declare open the new two-story building of Kopai School, Pooneryn Hospital and Kilinochchi Economic Center. He will lay foundation stone for the construction of the Kilinochchi Trade Center.

On Wednesday (20) the President will launch the construction work to build an international level sports complex in Kilinochchi at a cost of Rs. 360 million.

The President is also scheduled to address few public rallies.

Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and a number of other Ministers are also scheduled to participate in the events held in the Northern Province ahead of the local government polls on July 23.
