President praises Sri Lanka Cricket team for its success against England

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has commended the excellent performance by the Sri Lankan Cricket team touring England currently.
President Rajapaksa has congratulated the team's captain Tillakaratne Dilshan for the team's 2-1 lead against England in the ongoing five-match one-day international (ODI) series.

He has paid tribute to former Captains Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, for their immense contribution for the team's success, a government media release said.

The President has applauded Dinesh Chandimal's exquisite maiden century in the third ODI of the series yesterday at Lord's which propelled Sri Lanka to lead in the ODI series.

President has also appreciated Dilshan's 193 at Lord's in the Second Test, and paid a glowing tribute to Mahela Jayawardene for his excellent 144 in the 2nd ODI at Headingley which has been ranked as a masterpiece by the English press, the media release said.

Sri Lanka lost the three-match Test series 1-0 having lost the first Test at Cardiff disastrously and drawing the other two. The team won the only T20 match against England decisively before taking on the ODI series.
