President inspects development work for 2012 Deyata Kirula exhibition in Anuradhapura

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today visited the site of the next year's Deyata Kirula National Development Exhibition in Anuradhapura and instructed the relevant authorities to take measures to accelerate the development projects in the area.

The 6th Deyata Kirula National Development Exhibition is to be held at Oya Maduwa area in the Anuradhapura district in February 04, 2012, parallel to the Independence Day celebrations.


The exhibition will be held in a land that span across 2,600 acres, out of which 500 acres will be used to set up exhibition stalls. The military also will set up displays and part of the site will also be developed as an agricultural farm. Around 1,300 acres of the area are already being developed.
During the visit, the President has also instructed the authorities to renovate all tanks in the district.
Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya who accompanied the President has said that 23 mobile services will also be held with parallel to the exhibition to address the problems faced by the people in the district.
A dedicated economic center will also be constructed in the premises while another project will be launched under the supervision of the Investment Board to add value for the agrarian products of the district, the state-run radio, Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) reported.
The President spent some time with the people who came to see him and pledged to take prompt steps to resolve the drinking water problem faced by the residents in the area.
President Rajapaksa also visited the Oyamaduwa Kassapa Vidyalaya after observing Dayata Kirula Exhibition site and interacted with the students.


Prior to the observation of the Deyata Kirula site President paid homage to Mihintale Rajamaha Viharaya and inquired about the development activities at Mihintale.
Chief incumbent of Atamasthana venerable Pallegama Siriniwasa Thera and Chief incumbent of Thanthirimale Vihara Venerable Thanthirimale Chandrarathna Thera as well as Ministers S.M Chandrasena and Tissa Karalliyadda , Deputy Minister Earl Gunasekera, Parliamentarian Asanka Semasinghe Governor of the North Central Province, Karunaratne Diwulganage and Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake were also present at this occasion.
