The Colombo High Court has today granted bail to Lance Corporal Kandegedera Piyawansa who was arrested on February 27 for his alleged involvement in Wickramathunga's murder.
Piyawansa was released on Rs 75,000 cash bail and two sureties of Rs 100,000 each.
He was one of the two suspects in Wickramathunga's murder investigation.
Piyawansa earlier told the Mt. Lavinia Magistrate's Court that a senior police officer had tried to influence him to make a statement implicating a senior military officer in Wickramathunga's murder case and that he had been offered foreign employment in return.
Wickramathunga was murdered on January 8, 2009 in close proximity to his office in Ratmalana.
