The Rights Dialogue, a coalition of media and civil organizations will have a demonstration today at Lipton Circle near Colombo Town Hall at 12 noon to urge the government to find the whereabouts of disappeared journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda.
Eknaligoda, a cartoonist of Lanka-e-News website and a freelance journalist who was known for his antigovernment news and cartoons went missing without a trace on January 24 last year, just days before the presidential election.
He was believed to be a supporter of the common opposition presidential candidate former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka.
Sri Lanka Minister of Media and Information once said information regarding the disappeared journalist would be soon revealed. However, investigations regarding the disappearance have not led to any meaningful finding, says the Rights Dialogue.
Earlier this year on the first anniversary of his disappearance, his wife handed over a petition to the UN office in Colombo requesting assistance to find the missing journalist.
