Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa says he has full faith in Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's judgement and hopes that he (Singh) will never take any undemocratic decision. Yeddyurappa is in New Delhi with 121 BJP MLAs and they will be paraded before President Pratibha Patil on Tuesday at 5:30 PM to show that his government still enjoys a majority in Karnataka Assembly after Governor HR Bhardwaj sent a report to the Union Cabinet recommending the imposition of President's Rule in the state.
"Let us not presume things. I have got 100 per cent confidence in the Prime Minister that he will not take any undemocratic decision and I have got 100 hope that we will get justice," Yeddyurappa said.
"Yes! That is for some other purpose. We will be meeting the honourable President of India with our leaders and MLAs today (Tuesday). It's my duty to meet all the central leaders. I met (Arun) Jaitley, (LK) Advaniji and they advised me and told me about the meeting with the Prime Minister," he replied when asked about his proposed meeting with the President.
The Karnataka Chief Minister also said that he was thankful to Bhardwaj for uniting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
"I have asked my chief secretary to go and wish him on his birthday," Yeddyurappa said.
Yeddyurappa and the BJP have been involved in a bitter war of words with Bhardwaj after he sent his report to the Union Cabinet.
The BJP has stepped up the offensive demanding the recall of Bhardwaj. Thousands of BJP leaders and workers are protesting against the Governor in Bangalore.
However, sources have told CNN-IBN that the Centre is unlikely to accept Bhardwaj's recommendation to dismiss the Yeddyurappa government.
Yeddyurappa is scheduled to meet BJP President Nitin Gadkari later on Tuesday afternoon.
In the 225-member Karnataka assembly the BJP has the support of 108 members at present. With the Supreme Court reinstating the membership of 11 BJP MLAs, who had earlier rebelled against Yeddyurappa but have now expressed their support to him, the BJP's tally has gone up to 119. Moreover, the six Independent MLAs, who too had earlier rebelled, are now back with BJP, which takes the party's tally to a comfortable majority of 125.
The opposition camp with a combined strength of 71 Congress MLAs and 26 JDS MLAs stands at 97.
But despite the numbers against it, the Congress has accused the BJP of having lost the moral right to continue.
