Court summons Sri Lanka Prisons Commissioner for failing to produce Fonseka in time

The Court of Appeal of Sri Lanka today ordered the Commissioner of Prisons to appear in court personally to show cause for the failure of the prison officials to produce former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka in court on time.

Fonseka who is sentenced to a 30-month prison term by court martial was to appear in Court of Appeal today in the hearing of a petition he filed against dispossessing his parliamentary seat.

The prison officials produced Fonseka in court late just as the judges left the bench after issuing the order.
