Sri Lanka prison officials and police hunt for escaped prisoners

Sri Lankan prison officials and the police have commenced a search operation to apprehend four prisoners who have escaped from the Trincomalee Prison.
Four prisoners have cut a fence and escaped through the roof of the Trincomalee prison last night. The Trincomalee Harbour Police have reported the incident.

According to the police, out of the four prisoners who had escaped, three prisoners were jailed for extortion and another for robbery.

Army personnel are also to assist in the search operation for the prisoners.
