Karunanidhi threatens legal action against AIADMK

Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi on Monday threatened legal action against opposition AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa for alleging that the state
government is destroying important files on the pretext of shifting offices to a new building. Karunanidhi said the opposition leader is misleading a
nd diverting the people by her false allegations and legal action will be taken against such people.
"All the government departments are functioning in the new assembly building ever since it was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last year. The budget session of the assembly and meetings of the cabinet were held in the new building," Karunanidhi told reporters here.

The AIADMK Sunday charged the ruling DMK with destroying important files in the guise of shifting various departments from Fort St. George to the new assembly building.

In a complaint to the Election Commission, the AIADMK urged the poll panel to post central security forces so that files are not destroyed.

Queried about the Sri Lankan Tamils issue, Karunanidhi said the DMK will press upon the Indian government for early rehabilitation of the internally displaced Tamils and that they should have equal rights.

Karunanidhi said he does not differ from PMK leader S.Ramadoss in demanding that Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa be declared a war criminal.

“How the point is stressed is what is important and not whether I differ from Ramadoss,” he added.

On India being supportive of the island nation, Karunanidhi said: “These are all international issues. One has to take into consideration India’s security and also develope good relations.”

Queried about his family members being charged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the 2G spectrum scam case, Karunanidhi said he is not aware of any such thing.
