Tamil Nadu Boxing Association (TNBA) Secretary A K Karunakaran was today arrested by the Chennai city police on charges of sexual harassment.

Police sources told UNI that Mr Karunakaran was arrested by Vepery police following a complaint from a woman boxer, Thulasi, that he had misbehaved with her.
Mr Karunakaran, who was arrested by the police from his residence, was taken to Vepery police station for interrogation.
Thulasi, who had finished third in the recent senior national championship in Kerala, was not selected in the Tamil Nadu team for the just concluded National Games in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Sources close to Mr Karunakaran, however, said since Thulasi was not selected in the state team for the Games, it would have prompted her to lodge a complaint against Mr Karunakaran, who had given a fillip to the sport by organising regular coaching camps and tournaments ever since he became the Secretary of the state body.
Police sources said there were also allegations that Mr Karunakaran had taken money from some boxers promising them jobs. But he failed to do so and had not returned the money so far.
As news of his arrest spread, several supporters of Mr Karunakaran assembled in front the police station.
