A Tamil legislator in Sri Lanka, whose vehicle came under attack, last week, has alleged the attack was carried out with government backing.
TNA parliamentarian S. Sritharan has told the media that the attack on his vehicle in Anuradhapura last Monday (7) could not have taken place without government backing.
Sritharan has said that shots were fired at the front of the van carrying three others with him. The driver had sped the van when several grenades had been thrown under the van.
The vehicle has sustained damages but no one was injured.
The parliamentarian had been on his way to Colombo after a visit to the North when the attack had taken place around 5:30 p.m. between Anuradhapura and Nochchiyagama.
According to Sritharan, they had seen their attackers and are in a position to identify them.
