Sri Lankan Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa today called on the relevant authorities to conduct an investigation into the attack on Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Jaffna District parliamentarian S. Shritharan yesterday.
Rajapaksa made this statement in parliament when MP Shritharan had made a statement in parliament about the attack on his vehicle last night.
He had said that a group of unidentified men shot at his vehicle between Anuradhapura and Nochchiyagama while he was traveling to Colombo to attend the parliament session.
The MP and four others were travelling in a van from Jaffna to Colombo after a visit to the North.
The vehicle has sustained damages but no one was injured. Nochchiyagama police are conducting investigations.
