Sri Lanka major opposition MP suggests a leadership council to solve party crisis

Colombo district parliamentarian of Sri Lanka's major opposition United National Party (UNP), Ravi Karunanayaka says that the solution for the leadership crisis of the party is establishing a leadership council.

The MP said that the move could unite the party and win support of all factions.

Without directly naming anyone, Karunanayaka, who was in an open clash with the UNP leadership contender Sajith Premadasa, accused that the actions of certain persons divide and damage the party.

He said that the results of the local government election showed their reality.

However, Karunanayaka expressed content since the party grew its voter base in this election.
