Modi says Budget lacks will, Congress sings praises

Chief Minister Narendra Modi described the Union Budget as one that completely lacked the political will to control the huge corruption and unbearable price hikes in the country. He said
the UPA government has failed to match the expectations of the masses in addressing the issue of corruption, price hike and need of development. Modi said the UPA government had tried to give undue benefits in the name of higher education to election-bound West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu while ignoring Gujarat’s initiative for starting world-class universities. BJP MP Harin Pathak termed the budget as totally hopeless. He said there was nothing in the budget proposals to tackle the rising prices and provide relief to the common people. State Congress president Siddharth Patel has welcomed the Budget and said a provision of Rs. 4,75,000 crore for agriculture will give a boost to the economy.
