JVP says government trying to cover its bankruptcy by leveling accusations at them

Sri Lanka's Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) today charged that the government's abusive accusations towards the party were an indication of the governing party's bankruptcy.

JVP Propaganda Secretary and parliamentarian Vijitha Herath told a press conference this afternoon that the President disturbed by the unpopularity of the governing United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) in his Hambantota District had resorted to hurling accusations at the JVP in Tissamaharama.

He said that the government had made various attempts to level various accusations at different persons and had finally resorted to insulting the JVP on the eve of the local government elections.
