The Sri Lankan government under a special endowment has granted scholarships to students in Northern Province who excel academically, to continue their studies.
The government has recently awarded Presidential Scholarships to 788 students in the Northern Province, who passed GCE Ordinary Level examination with high marks.
Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minister Douglas Devananda and Northern Province Governor G. A. Chandrasiri had awarded the scholarships to the selected students at a ceremony held on 23rd February at Jaffna Hindu Vidyalaya.
The students were from the conflict-affected areas of Valikamam, Jaffna, Vadamarachchi, Thenmarachchi, Kilinochchi, Madhu, Mannar, Thunukkai, Mullaitivu, and Vavuniya.
In addition, 100 laptops had been given to the students who were selected to the university with high marks, the President's Office said.
