Sri Lankan court orders prison officials to provide hot water facilities to jailed ex-Army chief

A Sri Lankan court has once again ordered the prison officials to provide former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka with hot water facilities.

The Colombo High Court had issued the directive after it was informed that Fonseka has not yet been provided with hot water facilities as directed by courts in an earlier occasion.

The court had ordered the prison officials to provide hot water facilities to Fonseka and report back on the next court date.

Fonseka is currently serving a jail term at the Welikada Prison after he was convicted by a court martial.

In September last year, a court martial found Fonseka guilty of four charges related to alleged irregularities in military procurements during his tenure as Army Chief, and sentenced him to a 30-month rigorous prison term.
