Sri Lanka school principal arrested for forcing a student to swallow polythene

Sri Lankan Police arrested a school principal who allegedly terrified a 17-year old school girl to swallow a polythene food wrapper and produced in the court today.

The Magistrate Court of Horana released the suspect on two personal bails of government employees, worth of Rs. 100,000 each.

The principal of a school in Horana has threatened and asked the student to eat the polythene wrapper, a banned item in the school premises.

The 17-year old girl, believed to have eaten the polythene wrapper, was admitted to the Horana General Hospital.

Horana police investigating the incident have recorded statements from the victim and the other students.
