Young June Park, visiting South Korean Vice Minister for Trade and Energy of Ministry of Knowledge Economy of South Korea has expressed his government's support to Sri Lanka to minimize environmental issues that arise from the accelerated development in the country.
He extended his government's support when he met Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat on Wednesday (23).
Ministers Basil Rajapaksa, Prof. G.L. Peiris, and Ambassador of Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka, Dr. Choi Ki Chul were also present.
The visiting Minister also held discussions with the Minister of Environment Anura Priyadharshana Yapa at the Environment Ministry.
Their discussions focused on a strategy on proper disposal of garbage resulting from the newly launched industries and trade hubs. Chairman of the Central Environment Authority Charitha Herath was also present at the discussions.
In discussions with the Economic Development Minister of Sri Lanka, Basil Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat, Park expressed Korea's commitment to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries, especially, in investment and tourism sectors.
