MP Swarnamalee's Mahesh Chaaminda Walawegama was wanted by the police to be interrogated for severely assaulting his wife.

The parliamentarian was admitted last Wednesday to the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital for the injuries sustained due to the assault.

Police spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Prishantha Jayakody said that the suspect would be handed over to the police Women's and Children's Bureau for further interrogation.
