Thailand donates US$ 100,000 for Sri Lanka flood relief

The government of Thailand has donated US$ 100,000 to Sri Lanka as relief assistance for the rehabilitation of the areas ravaged by the recent floods.

Sri Lanka External Affair's Ministry said today that the Thai Foreign Affairs Minister, Kasit Piromya, handed over a cheque of US$ 100,000 to the Deputy Minister of External Affairs, Neomal Perera on January 19 as an initial contribution for the rehabilitation of flood-damaged areas.

The Thai Foreign Minister has made this donation during the BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting held in Myanmar recently.

Deputy Minister Perera accepting the donation has expressed Sri Lankan government's deep appreciation to the Government of Thailand, External Affair's Ministry said. The Deputy Minister has acknowledged that the Thai Government had always assisted Sri Lanka whenever the country encountered difficulties, especially following natural disasters.
