Dr Gifty Immanuel, who practices in Tuticorin, is currently studying a Master's programme with the Woolf Institute through e-learning. He is currently in the second year of his Master of Studies in the Study of Jewish-Christian Relations programme. Dr Immanuel was given the award because of his work done in the public health field, especially among the poor. Expressing his pride at winning the award, Dr Immanuel said that he will now be looking to expand his work on a large scale.
“The award was presented for my works in public health as it was considered as an alternative model for millions of poor in India who are deprived of tertiary or super specialty medical care. It was indeed a rare honour and this will be an impetus to continue my services in a large scale”, he said.
