Sri Lanka's Foreign Secretary Romesh Jayasinghe is to arrive in Bangladeshi capital Dhaka on Tuesday for a three-day official visit to hold first-ever foreign secretary level bilateral discussions.
Jayasinghe will hold the discussions with Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Mohamed Mijarul Quayes at the State Guest House Meghna on January 26, Bangladesh newspaper The Daily Star reported.
The consultation is scheduled under a protocol signed in April 2003, which provides an institutional forum for review of the full range of Bangladesh-Sri Lanka bilateral relations.
The Foreign Secretary is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dipu Moni at her office Tuesday.
The discussions are expected to focus on expanding the existing investment and economic relations and bilateral trade and open new avenues of cooperation.
Both countries enjoy cooperation through bilateral and regional arrangements such as SAARC and BIMSTEC.
