In a message forwarded today to the Sri Lankan government through the British High Commission in Colombo, the Prince Charles, Prince of Wales has expressed concern over Sri Lanka's flood-displaced.
"My wife and I have been watching, with mounting concern, the terrible effects of the flooding which has been afflicting so much of Sri Lanka. Our hearts go out to the families of those who have so tragically lost their lives and to all those who have lost their property and, crucially, their next harvest," the Prince of Wales has said in his message.
"On behalf of us both, I wanted you to know how much you and the people of Sri Lanka are in our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult of times and to send you every encouragement and countless good wishes as you begin the task of rebuilding shattered communities," he added.
The message was forwarded to the Sri Lankan government by the Acting British High Commissioner, Mark Gooding, the government media reported.
