Indian Air Chief pays tribute to IPKF soldiers fallen in Sri Lanka war

The visiting Commander of Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Pradeep Vasant Naik today honored the soldiers of the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) fallen in Sri Lanka during the war.

Chief Marshal Naik laid a floral wreath in front of the IPKF Memorial in Battaramulla, Colombo on Monday and paid tribute to the thousands of Indian soldiers who were killed in Sri Lanka fighting against the LTTE combatants during a two-year mission in late 80s.

The Indian Air Chief is in Sri Lanka on a four-day official visit to hold discussions on strengthening bilateral defence operations.

Earlier in the morning Naik met with Sri Lanka's Air Force Commander and Chief of Defense Staff Air Marshal Roshan Goonetileke at the Air Force Headquarters in Colombo. The two commanders exchanged mementos to signify the visit.
