Emergency passed in Sri Lanka parliament for another month

Sri Lanka Parliament extended the Emergency Regulations Wednesday for another month with a majority of 111 votes.

The bill received 134 votes in favour of the motion while 23 votes were against it. Some members of the main opposition United National Party, the Tamil National Alliance and Democratic Natinal Alliance voted agianst.

The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
