SriLankan acquires sixth aircraft following government takeover

Sri Lanka's national career SriLankan Airlines has acquired another Airbus A320 aircraft.

With the addition of the new Airbus, the fleet capacity of SriLankan extends to 15 aircraft.
The airline says it has already begun expanding its fleet for the anticipated growth in tourism with seven more aircraft by the end of 2011.

Two more are planned by February 2011, including one Airbus A320 and a De Havilland Twin Otter Floatplane for the re-launch of the domestic service SriLankan Air Taxi.

The new Airbus A320 will enliven SriLankan's plans to expand to the southern Indian city of Kochi during the next month. Sri Lankan provides services to 50 airports in 21 countries.

SriLankan is to make some modifications to the interior of the new aircraft and it will be in operations within several days, SriLankan announced.

SriLankan acquired six aircraft since it came under the total control of state in July this year. This is the third aircraft acquired in the last five months.
