The Chairman of Sri Lanka National Insurance Trust Senaka Abeygunasekara says that the President Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed him to plan a new insurance scheme for the public service pensioners of the country.
The semi-government sector employees also can join this insurance scheme, the Chairman said.
The new insurance scheme for the pensioners is to be introduced next year, he said.
The insurance scheme is to be parallel to the Agrahara insurance scheme for the public sector employees. Only Rs. 75 per month is deducted from the public servants for the Agrahara insurance scheme that provides many dividends.
Abeygunasekara further stated that the Trust has focused on providing scholarships to the children of the members of Agrahara insurance scheme from 2011.
