Mashoor represented the Vanni electoral district in the Sri Lankan Parliament between October 2000 and April 2004 and returned to parliament from April 2010 elections under the United National Front.
Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, a constituent party of the United National Front recently joined the government.
Muthalil Bawa Farook, who is next in line of the list of preferential votes is to fill the vacancy created by late MP Mashoor.
The would be MP Bawa Farook, a lawyer by profession is the organizer of United National Party in Mannar electorate.
