Sri Lanka court remands 160 hardcore Tamil Tigers

A Sri Lankan court today remanded 160 hardcore Tami Tigers who were hiding among the internally displaced people after the war ended in May 2009.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Aruni Attygalle ordered to remand the LTTE activists until January 03, 2011.

The suspects have allegedly been involved in various crimes during the humanitarian operation last year and went into hiding among the IDPs in the camps.

They have been under the custody of the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) following their arrest from camps.

The TID is still continuing the investigations but since their detention period has lapsed the suspects have been produced before the magistrate.

The Magistrate has ordered them to be remanded until the investigations are complete.
