He reminded the rookie officials to serve the people devoid of community and religious differences and not postpone the responsibilities that should be fulfilled today for tomorrow.
President Rajapaksa made these remarks today at a function held at the Temple Trees to present appointment letters to 135 government servants who scored the highest marks in the 2009 open competitive examination of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service.
This is the first time a President has handed over appointment letters to officials of the Administrative Service.
Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne and Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabral also addressed the new officials.
Members of the Maha Sangha, Deputy Minister Vijaya Dahanayake, and Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga and Government officials were present at the occasion.
